The Joga.com Companion - Powered by Firefox adds new features to Firefox so you can show your team colors and stay up to date with the latest World Cup action.

What teams will I be able to follow with the Joga.com Companion?

All 32 national teams that are participating in the World Cup.

How long will the download take and do I need to restart my computer?

• Less than one minute with a broadband Internet connection; around five minutes with a 56K dialup Internet connection.
• You won’t need to restart your computer but you will need to restart Firefox to begin using the Joga.com Companion.

What are the system requirements for the Joga.com Companion?

• Minimum system requirements are the same as for Firefox 1.5.
• To watch videos, you’ll need:
  • Macromedia Flash; Player 7.0+.
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 or higher with latest updates installed, or Mac OS X 10.3 or higher
  • A high-speed Internet connection for continuous playback on Google Video.

What languages is the Joga.com Companion available in?

The Joga.com Companion will be available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and Portuguese initially. Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Thai, Korean, Dutch, Czech and Russian will be available shortly.

Do I need a Joga.com account to use the Joga.com Companion?

To get the full experience, you’ll need a free Joga.com account. If you don’t have a Joga.com account you’ll still be able to access themes and match updates.

What are the Joga.com Companion’s specific features?

• Visual themes for all 32 countries participating.
• Joga.com sidebar with football news, scores, videos and community links
• Match updates in the status bar, including goals, time remaining, and summaries

How can I stay on top of games and my favorite team’s progress?

The Joga.com Companion sidebar gives you game summaries at a glance. The status bar displays the scores of games that are currently in progress and alerts you when a goal is scored. You can get a list of everything that’s happened in a game so far by clicking an arrow in the alert box.

Can I keep track of my Joga.com communities using the Joga.com Companion?

Yes. If you’ve signed up for a free Joga.com account you’ll be able to view and join Joga.com communities from the sidebar.

Where do the scores and stats come from?

Scores and stats are officially licensed.

Will the Joga.com Companion be available after the World Cup is over?

Yes. After the World Cup ends you’ll still be able to use the Joga.com Companion to read football news, watch videos, and stay connected to Joga.com communities. You’ll also be able to keep using the themes provided.

What if I need help with the Joga.com Companion?

Will the Joga.com Companion expose me to ads or pop-ups?

No. Installing the Joga.com Companion will not change the behavior of Firefox with respect to ads or pop-ups.

What changes will the Joga.com Companion make to my current Firefox settings?

Installing the Joga.com Companion will result in the following modifications to your Firefox settings:

• Addition of a visual theme to Firefox
• Addition of a Joga.com Companion button to the Firefox Navigation toolbar
• Display of an optional Joga.com sidebar
• Display of optional status bar game updates

Can I retrieve my old themes when World Cup is over?

Yes. You can disable the Joga.com Companion by going to the Tools menu, selecting Extensions, and then right-clicking on the Joga Companion for Firefox extension. Select “Disable” from the menu and upon restart of Firefox your previous theme will be enabled.

How do I uninstall the Joga.com Companion?

To uninstall the Joga.com Companion, go the Tools menu in Firefox. Select Extensions. In the Extensions tool, select the Joga Companion for Firefox extension, then click the Uninstall button at the botttom left of the tool window. Restart Firefox and the uninstall is complete.

Yes, it is.

Is this product open source?

We plan on open sourcing the underlying framework and code we developed to build this add-on under the MPL/GPL/LGPL. We still have some work to do in terms of licensing and code review before we do so, and we'll get to that now that we've shipping version 1.0. To be clear, the graphics, trademarks and sports feeds used to build the official Joga.com Companion have been licensed from third-parties and will not be released as open source.
